Why did you delete File:75 Years of Friendship through Cricket Event.png? It was a logo for an event and i had uploaded under proper licensing information Pharaoh496 (talk) 08:01, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Pharaoh496: This file was copied from the Internet without a permission. You need the copyright holder's permission before uploading it here. Please COM:L. Yann (talk) 10:31, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- What?
- Coming to that later, i find that many of my media is removed, and I am being warned for copyright. I took the pics, and I cant find similar images on the internet even now, of those particular instances. Why are they being deleted then? Pharaoh496 (talk) 11:15, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Pharaoh496: If you took these pictures, you must answer some questions. Where are internships allowed to attend the Prime Minister's meetings? We expect that you upload the original images with EXIF data. Thanks, Yann (talk) 11:20, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- What makes you think I can reveal any of that? And I am still learning to operate wikimedia, so I can try and fix something but dont remove media already in place in two dozen pages Pharaoh496 (talk) 11:27, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Pharaoh496: Well, the files will be deleted unless you prove that you are the author. You can also do that via COM:VRT, but some proof will be asked anyway, and it takes usually much longer. Yann (talk) 11:48, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- And how do I? Take the images and look for them on internet (except the logo). This was the only site I uploaded Pharaoh496 (talk) 14:33, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Yann With much respect to you, Id appreciate a response. You have flagged many of my uploads for deletion and I am unaware what to even do. Pharaoh496 (talk) 12:10, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Pharaoh496: I told you what to do. You repeatedly uploaded copyright violations from the Internet, so your claim that these images were taken by you is not credible. And you didn't answer my question above. You must prove that you have the right to license these images under a free license. Please see COM:VRT for the procedure. Yann (talk) 12:18, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

Alstom Metropolis BM4 pictures - Copyright issues
Hello. Thanks for letting me know about the pictures deleted from the Wiki.
I have put them like that since technically I don't know EXACTLY which copyright protections apply to those pictures. Normally those pictures are available to the public (so they should fall under Fair Use), without any specification about repercussions in regards to their use in other places. Since they have been featured in the press and even in an Alstom press release on LinkedIn, they should be under some sort of Creative Commons license since these articles are available freely (so no paywalls), but then again nothing is clear.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Punmeister1337 (talk) 20:46, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Punmeister1337: Hi,
- It is very simple. Do not upload images copied from the Internet, unless you get a formal written permission for a free license. Fair use is not accepted on Commons. Please read COM:L. Yann (talk) 23:29, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
LachinCorridor_Exodus.jpg - deletion reason
Hello, I noticed that you deleted File:LachinCorridor_Exodus.jpg per COM:SPEEDY. Unless I missed it, I don't see a specific reason cited, and I wasn't able to determine which criteria listed on the COM:SPEEDY page would have been violated by this image. Would you mind letting me know please what the issue with the file was? Thank you.
Achemish (talk) 17:50, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Achemish: This file was copied from [1], where there is the mention "© 2023 AP Photo/Vasily Krestyaninov". I don't see any mention that it is published under a free license, therefore it is a copyright violation. Yann (talk) 18:24, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
VTRS tag
Hi
Per fr:wiki, could you do the same here? Because she have upload a photo here. So could you do it and add the tag as verified to the photo? Panam2014 (talk) 18:34, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Panam2014: This should be done by a VRT member, and I am not one. Please ask on COM:VRTN. Yann (talk) 19:26, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
Re:Warning
Hello, I am a CU on it.wiki. I asked for speedy deletion because all of those (useless) pictures have been uploaded by a sockpuppet of a well known cross-wiki spammer and LTA. Who was also globally locked for that. He is trying to promoting himself as photographer and musician ans he's spamming everywhere his bio and, on Commons, his images. Do you think this is not a valid reason for speedy deletion, at the point to warn me? Regards. Superspritz (talk) 10:14, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Superspritz: OK, but then please provide a more detailed rationale. In such a case, a regular DR with all uploads by this user may be better, so that we have the context. Thanks, Yann (talk) 10:18, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
Please help
You have been really helpful in the past. Please see that this Commons file is all OK:
The heading should have a capital on the word "Post".
I did another earlier page using the same image but it has a black line underneath - you can remove that page entirely and just use the one above I am discussing with you (if you can find the other one please delete it!)
Thanks Srbernadette (talk) 07:09, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Srbernadette: Hi,
- I think it is OK that way. Do we need these external links in the description? These are usually not accepted. I changed the license. Yann (talk) 09:00, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your efforts and time - could you please (on the above page) change the title name so that the word "post" has a capital "P". Thanks.
Please look at this file too https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Filey_Brigg_Drowning_May_1900.jpg
- you can discard it if you think it is no good - This page is wrong because it has a black line at the bottom of it. Also, this page is wrong because the heading says "May" instead of "April".
Thanks again, Srbernadette (talk) 10:42, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
@Yann:Hi,this logo can deleted or keep?? This image is a only text "CV" AbchyZa22 (talk) 12:38, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
Ouch
A block on TC was a little harsh IMO for what could quite honestly been a simple mistake. I think AGF and a conversation would be more appropriate before bringing out the restraints. If it was urgent and imperative, something like 2h would have allowed a moment of intervention and a conversation. As admins, we also need to look at this from the perspective of the user. — billinghurst sDrewth 21:35, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, OK. I unblocked TC immediately. Yann (talk) 09:00, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
More deletions
@Yann Hi! Thanks for deleting the pictures I had marked for deletion under copyright violations. I apologise for uploading those pictures without verifying the license. That was the first time I was uploading pictures from the Lok Sabha/Rajya Sabha website. There are some more files uploaded by myself and other users from the same site and I have marked them for deletion under the same deletion criteria. I humbly request you to check that at your convenience. Thanks again. Oritsu.me (talk) 04:55, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Oritsu.me: OK fine, but you should say that these are files uploaded by you. Otherwise I have to check each file. Yann (talk) 09:07, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
DRs
Just to give one example, Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by FrDr this image was taken on a private nature reserved owned by Natuurpunt, a non-private conservation organization that owns private conversation land. Which I was pretty clear about in the DR. The same for at least the next couple of images in it. They were all taken on private conversation land owned by Natuurpunt. I'm really getting sick of you targeting and harassing me. Are you just that petty that your going to continue coming after me 2 years later because of one incident? Adamant1 (talk) 10:23, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- Where did you see that the land is owned by Natuurpunt? This association manages the nature reserves, but I don't see evidence that it owns the land. That is usually not how it works. This kind of association works with public funds to manage publicly owned land. Please keep the discussion in one place. Yann (talk) 10:28, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- I don't mind keeping the conversation about the DRs to the ANU complaint. I think that's tangential to you constantly going after me for no reason every time you get a chance though and I'd like it to be settled regardless of the ANU discussion. --Adamant1 (talk) 10:39, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Adamant1: Do not take this issue personally. I would answer the same to whoever create such DRs. Yann (talk) 12:07, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Yann, I noticed that Adamant1 has opened a whole series of similar DRs for tourist and nature reserve signs, always based on the same reasoning that there's no FOP for these kind of tourist signs (see : Category:Belgian FOP cases/pending) FrDr (talk) 16:01, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- @FrDr: Yes, I closed some of them. Could you add the {{FoP-Belgium}} to all images (you can do that with VFC, tell me if you need help)? Could you also answer about who owns the land where these pictures were taken? Are these places open to the public without any restriction? Yann (talk) 17:35, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Yann: I don't know how VF works, help would be greatly appreciated. The outdoor signs of tourist attractions, monuments and nature reserves weren't taken on private land (which I wouldn't even have access to to take the pictures in the first place). kind regards FrDr (talk) 20:07, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- The idea that someone can't take pictures on private land is totally ridiculous and I've said a couple of times now at least a few of the signs clearly stated the nature reserves were privately owned by Natuurpunt. You can claim they aren't, but they clearly are and your word isn't valid evidence. At least not compared to an actual sign saying the nature reserve is private. --Adamant1 (talk) 22:53, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- Actually it probably doesn't matter who owns the land, as long as it is open to the public. Yann (talk) 09:11, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- I think I explained that in the ANU complaint. "private" is just shorthand for "permanently accessible to the public" because access being restricted to private property is kind of inherent to the thing and I don't feel like writing a mini-essay about what exactly the terms "private" and "public" mean every time this comes up just because people like you want to be pedantic about it. But I will point out that in Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Natuurpunt Smiley.toerist said museum's aren't sufficiently public enough because they have "controlled access" and then went on to describe private nature reserves in a way that clearly shows they control access to the public. So there isn't a legitimate argument that they are "permanently accessible to the public" enough to be public places for the purposes of FOP in Belgium. --Adamant1 (talk) 09:23, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Closed DR for File:Tutra Pahari Temple,Goremara.jpg
I saw that you closed the DR for File:Tutra Pahari Temple,Goremara.jpg. Did you noticed that the uploader removed the own name as author and hole information template? As the uploader is also blocked this in most cases qualifies for speedy deletion but you closed the DR with the standard text. GPSLeo (talk) 16:34, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for noticing this. I reverted to an earlier version. Yann (talk) 17:32, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
File:Hiroshi NIH.png
Hello Yann.
I wanted to ask you why you deleted File:Hiroshi NIH.png since I own the copyright to this photo because it was taken by my colleague with my own camera. So please let me know if there is a way to show that I own the copyright. KBO36 (talk) 06:24, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- I was doing some research and came across a misunderstanding.
- Thank you for your cooperation. KBO36 (talk) 07:45, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- @KBO36: Hi,
- If it was taken by your colleague, then they own the copyright, not you. And it is wrong to say you own it, like you did when you uploaded it. Your colleague needs to send a permission for a free license via COM:VRT. Then why not upload the original image with full EXIF data, instead of a small PNG file, which looks like a screenshot? Yann (talk) 09:32, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
can you prevent deletion?
Hello, can you prevent the deletion of categorized images, namely some of those in Category:DOCUMERICA photographs by Eric Vance? They are part of [DOCUMERICA Project, 1971-77. The images proposed for deletion are in Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:US National Archives series: Stock Photograph Files, 11/3/1999 - 3/16/2015 Hopefully, you can help. Copyvio issues
Yann, I'm not very familiar with processes on Commons, other than uploading, so seeking your advice or help. I see you had challenged this uploader for copyvio before. See my new section User talk:See-N-e-v-e-r-M-i-n-d#More license issues. It looks to me like all his uploads are likely copyvios. Is there a bulk way to deal with such? Dicklyon (talk) 02:41, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
- Done Yes, right. I deleted the images, and warned the uploader. Yann (talk) 09:40, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
Please check - better source and the name of the entire File should be:

Dear Yann Thanks again for your help.

at the bottom of the file it says:
